Plasma or Lcd, Which One to Buy

The both are the newer inventions over the traditional cathode ray television and both are par excellence in their fields. Both plasma and the LCD work on different technologies both are in great demand.

Plasma

Plasma is a high definition as compare to the cathode ray TVs. It is built for sharp images and vibrant colors. These TV sets are not cheap and have also become status symbol for some proud technophiles. A good thing about the flat screen plasma is that they are compact and can be easily put anywhere or hanged. Science behind the plasma TV is very complicated as the word plasma means gases like neon and xenon which start glowing when exposed to electric field. These TVs are said to be custom made for movies as DVDs play best in the plasmas. The quality of picture remains the same from all the viewing angles.

LCD

LCD TVs are now in vogue these days due to their attractive sleek look and for their low rates. In their looks they look almost the same as the plasmas but they work differently. The full form of LCD is liquid crystal display. They are little cheaper than the plasma TVs and offer almost the same luxuries plasma offers. The clarity of the LCDs are very impressive if compared to the old traditional cathode ray tubes. These are also compact and can be easily placed anywhere in the house easily. These can now also be connected to the computer monitors for various features. Unlike the plasmas LCD are available in both small and large sizes for the convenience of the customer. The viewing angle is less in LCD as the picture starts to blacken when viewed from a side angle.

So which one is the lucky winner………..

1. Both the LCD and the plasma are flat screens and can be easily placed at owner’s place of choice. The plasma TVs consume more power than the LCD so they cannot be said to be environment friendly and may add up to your electricity bill even on the stand by mode as well.

2. The off viewing angle of plasma TVs are excellent from all possible angles and the picture doesn’t lose its quality, but the picture quality in LCD deteriorates when viewed from a side angle.

3. The lifespan of both the TVs are good and can stay in shape upto 20 years if used for 8 hours a day, so the lifespan of both the LCD and the plasma is great.

4. The plasma TV is great to view DVDs and it looks like if its made for this purpose only. The LCD can be used as a great mean to watch normal day to day soaps.

5. The LCDs have become a little pocket friendly and have started to phase out the old cathode rays into oblivion, while on the other hand the plasma can cost you a fortune and it is still enjoyed by the rich and used as a status symbol.

6. The screen burn is less in the plasma as compared to the LCDs so they can be viewed for really long hours.

7. One more great advantage of the LCD is that is available in both large and small sizes and due to this it scores over the plasma TVs.
